 Measuring principle
The low-valence manganese in the water sample is oxidized by the potassium periodate to the reddish-purple permanganate. In the acid medium, oxidize with potassium periodate and heat until it boils. Finally, with potassium pyrophosphate-sodium acetate in the neutral solution, the potassium periodate can instantaneously oxidize low-valence manganese to permanganate at room temperature, thereby measuring the content of manganese in the water sample.
